In the fast-paced world of school business management, we often find ourselves racing from one initiative to the next, one crisis to another, one budget cycle to the following. Amid this constant forward motion, there’s a critical practice that frequently gets overlooked: the art of meaningful reflection on our decisions and their outcomes. As business officers, we are trained to focus on efficiency and implementation, but how often do we consider the equally important practice of “de-implementation” — the deliberate discontinuation of practices that aren’t serving our districts well?
